प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने ट्वीट किया, ‘दिल्ली और आस-पास के इलाकों में भूकंप के झटके महसूस किए गए. सभी से शांत रहने और सुरक्षा सावधानियों का पालन करने के अलावा संभावित झटकों के प्रति सतर्क रहने का आग्रह करता हूं. अधिकारी स्थिति पर कड़ी नजर रख रहे हैं.”

भूकंप की तीव्रता रिक्टर स्केल पर 4.0 मापी गई, जिसका केंद्र दिल्ली के आसपास ही धरती से 5 किलोमीटर की गहराई में बताया जा रहा है. यही वजह रही कि तेज झटके महसूस हुए. कुछ सेकंड तक रहने ने वाले भूकंप के झटके इतने तेज थे कि इमारतों के अंदर जोरदार कंपन लोगों ने महसूस किया.
